2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup nuts (optional)

Cream butter, shortening, eggs, and vanilla. Add flour, soda, and salt. Mix well. Add chips and nuts. Drop by heaping teaspoon about 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 9-11 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
