Great Icing for Chocolate Gobs and Cream Horns
Start by taking 1 cup shortening and 1 cup sugar and whip with mixer for about 20 minutes. While the mixer in running take about 90% of your milk and heat on stove at medium heat. Take the 10% left over and add the flour. Mix by hand or use a container with lid and shake the mixture together. Add the flour mixture to the rest of the milk on stove. Stir continuously so that the milk doesn't scorch, and until the milk mixture thickens like gravy (about 5 minutes).
Place milk mixture in refrigerator to cool down.
Once the milk mixture cools down to room temp, add it to the sugar and shortening blend in the mixer. Add vanilla and whip another 20 minutes. Result will be a light and smooth icing.
